Terry our late founder, started the business more than 20 years ago in his back garden, has more than 40 years experience in the industry. He is a former technical advisor to Classic Cars magazine and was the programme leader for engineering at Southampton City College. Sadly no longer with us his legacy
Since 1983 Chris has practised the lost Dark arts of welding. He now works in house as our resident aluminium welder, he has successfully welded more holes, missing sections, splits and other various damages that you’ve had hot dinners. He has single handedly promoted a trend to repair the irreparable and prevent the potential cost of complete replacement. When he’s not in the hot shop he can be found converting seats, skimming surfaces or rebuilding some vintage component.
Since the age of six Evie has shown a keen interest in helping her father (Terry Formhalls), watching him work and answering the phone in the early years of the budding business. She has been with the company throughout its’ entire development history and now runs the marketing, events and social media pages.
Scott is our full-time in-house engine builder, who can confidently turn his hand to any project no matter how old or rare. He has worked with cars ever since leaving school previously specialising in Aston Martin before coming to Formhalls for some much needed variety and colour.
Scott loves the traditional, hands on approach that only the vintage and classic restoration industry can offer, treating each customer engine with the utmost diligence and care.
Paul is our lifetime guarantee white metal bearing Specialist. He’s a dab hand with all our manual machinist equipment as well as proving himself invaluable when it came to taking over our line borers from previous veteran engineer Keith Lockyer who retired late in 2022.
He had previously worked for a specialist shop machining turbo Chargers.
In his spare time Paul works on variety of personal projects including the restoration of a 1972 Datsun. He can also be found on the track in his 1987 Volkswagen Passat at various events throughout the year.
Moses is a highly skilled machinist with an incredibly discerning eye for detail. He joined our team from South Africa having left his job of 10 years as a Tygerberg Engine Builder with glowing recommendations. Now you can find him skimming heads, blocks manufacturing bearing backs and much more.
Whilst in the UK he has completed multiple qualifications with the automotive engine builders associations, becoming fully certified as a head and engine machinist.
Damien is currently training up with Paul to join our white metal bearings team. He has come from us with a history in
Hydraulics Repairs working with manual machines and agricultural repair for over 8 years. Damien has always had a passion for cars and really enjoys the machining aspect of the job.
